home studio stands?

greetings

What kind of stands do you all use for your mpc's? I have a laptop, alesis midi controller, MPC 500 & asrxpro.

Essentially, i would like to use stands for the 2 music workstations (asr & MPC)...any recommendations?

I've seen people build their own stands and others purchase stands.

any and all help is appreciated..this is in efforts to create my Evil Beats Lab (no girlfriends allowed)

are you interested in tiered stands or desk laptop type stands ?

tiered would be nice but im sure its more expensive. the desk laptop versions sound interesting.

I use a footstool for my samplers. I like to jam out close to the floor and plus its comfortable for me, I can rest my arms on my legs while banging out a track and get good visuals at the screen. And I use a bench to sit.

i like the Ikea idea (clean and simple) but the QuickLok looks siick! i'm going to look into both ideas and see what works for me..

I've used the Z-Lock stand, and made some custom rack gear.

The nice thing about building something custom (or modding ikea furniture) is if you're any good with tools you can get a workspace closer to what you think you'd like.

Of course once you use it, you'll probably want to tweak it again. The z-lock/q-lock stuff looks nice, but when you spend that much money you're less likely to want to take a dremel/saw to it and mod it up 'right'.

really? to me those "Z" shaped desk/stands look not so sturdy... quick lok in my experience was always okay though for component quality as limited as my experience with their products are.

anyone who has seem those in person care to comment? I mean they look cool dont get me wrong, but how do they hold up with 200lbs of gear on them?

I believe the Z stand can hold up to 300 lbs with ease. I have two Z stands. One holds a Digidesign Control 24 and two computer monitors. The other holds a 76 keyboard, a moog voyager, and 4 rack units. I also modified a ikea expedit for a DJ set up. I'll post a few pics tonight.

For a cheaper price on Quik Lok gear check out ebay. Or google the part number to find cheaper and/or competitive price.

For a cheaper alternative. There are wall mounting shelves and metal shelving racks. You can find them a Lowes, Home Depot or even bed bath and beyond.
Also check out office furniture at Officemax, Staples or Office Depot.

thanks AI, my current main table was previously in a screen printing (slave labour factory :lol: ) and I know the owner... anyhow they shut down and I grabbed the table. The surface is over an inch thick and it's on a 2"x6" frame with 4"x4" posts as legs... however it's time to get another unit soon.

Sounds like my Z... I've got the second tear adapters, bought a few pieces of shelving material and put the Voyager up top with my monitors and some effect pedals. The bottom shelf that used to have my Korg Triton Studio now has my turn table, MPC and a bunch of other stuff. It looks a little wacky, but it actually works out pretty nicely.
