Yeah, I know this is probably been answered before, but i'de appreciate it if someone could help out a newb in this situation. I have an original 2000xl with A 100 mb ZIP drive. should i ditch the ZIP drive and upgrade to something better? And if so, what would be the best way to get a finished sequence off the MPC and onto my macbook? I have the money to upgrade so please let me know what would be my best bet...thanks

Convert the sequence to a wav.

You cannot do this in a 2000xl.

You have to record the audio to tape or disk or something like that.

Does your zip work? I wouldn't ditch it just yet if it's working. You will want to though, it will fail eventually.

So, assuming your zip is working, and you want to get your mpc beats onto your mac, I would spend the money on a sound card. I like the edirol fa-101, but there are many options, and just as many opinions as to what will work for you.

If you are using the 8-outs, get one with at least that many inputs. If you are only using stereo, then you can get by with just two inputs. The apogee duets are amazing for 2 channels http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/duet.php
