2000xl 8 outs

my xl has the 8 outs installed, i havnt really got to know how to use them but i realized the other day that it really is only 4 outs (4 with L/R). When i go to assign an output to my mixer track (a pad/pads) in the mpc it only allows me to select 1,2 3,4 5,6 7,8 for an assignable out. understand that this means basically 4 outs each with a right and a left. But in the manual it also shows that above the padin the mixer that u can also assign a single number such as for out number 3 it just shows a 3 not a 3,4 as in L/R...im a bit confused becuase my mpc doesnt allow that, it only allows me to assign two outs per pad not just one. i was thinking maybe it had something to do with the effects board...not sure though.

Anyway, do any of u guys track out and pan ur tracks (or pads on the mpc) all the way to the right or left so that u can use all 8 outs for different tracks/pads. meaning u dont have to use up 2 full outs per pad. In the manual i think it said odd numbers are left and even numbers are right....any thoughts?

possibly you sample is mono

yo, you need check your samples if its stereo or mono. when you assign your sample to an out, your mpc will automatically put 1/2, 3/4 etc...that is if your sample is stereo - L/R. if your sample is mono then it will just show a single number 1,2,3 etc... most of us find this out the hard way and see that ALL of our sounds are stereo, which is a pain. you can check if a sample is stereo by seeing an (ST) to the far right of it in the PGM mode. to convert it into mono - highlight sample>open window>convert which i think is F3>it will give you two of that sample now i.e.> Sound1_ _ _ _L, Sound1_ _ _ _ _R. choose one and replace it with your stereo sound.

that just sounded very complicated, but im a mad scientist with it so, i guess the panning option is better.

its necessary to leave some samples in stereo. if you convert it into mono then youll hinder the essence of the sample and have to start from scratch. drums are different. i usually keep them mono (this is all subjective). i then boost them up in my DAW once i have the mono track recorded.
