why do i need a mixer to sample vinyl

ive been sampling vinyl at my library with a turntable straight into my mpc without a mixer. why would i need a mixer in my setup? the benefits?

not all turntables need a RIAA preamp, some can output a line-level signal

but if they don't you lose bass and it sounds wrong

a mixer without an RIAA preamp won't make any difference!

because mixers have pre amps and turntables dont...

you dont have to get a mixer you can use one of these.

you would know by now if you needed a preamp/mixer or not... the volume would be so low you wouldn't be able to sample from it. i'm assuming you have a portable turntable or something other than a technics style turntable if you've been sampling without a mixer. don't spend time worrying about "needing something" unless you really actually need it... and you'll know when you do... believe me.

You don't NEED one. But its nice to have. That little gadget mentioned earlier seems kinda cool. You can buy simple one off ebay for about 20 dollars now a days.
