i had the multimix 8 that youre referring to i however didnt use the usb function i sent it thru an emu 0404 pci card the usb sound is crap, as far as it being eight channels its techinically not if i remember right 4 of the 8 channels are 2 stereo pairs but for a budget mixer its great however the volume pots got scratchy after hardly anytime and i pawned it cuz i outgrew it and moved onto a macpro desktop and a digi 003 rack which to me is the perfect setup for the mpc considering it has 8 indivual inputs only thing better would be the 003 console for the fader control on each channel but some ppl like to avoid protools all together... if youre looking for an 8 channel interface i would suggest firewire and something compatible with your preferred software however if youre looking for a quick 2 trk into the computer you couldnt go wrong but i would suggest you dont pay much for it as you will definitely be in need of more feaures down the road.. oh i almost forgot it has some chessy effects kinda fun to mess with the vox efx and the delays and reverbs arent bad and it has aux input which helps to fully interface with your computer i.e main outs into the comp, comp back out to the aux in and send that to the control room channel where you would run your speakers... hope that helps
