Hi!
I've been running OS2 since I bought the machine. Some of you have returned to OS1. Can you tell me if the LFO >VC01 modulation goes from zero to deep modulation, in one knob step on the VCO page? It's a common way to fatten a sound to pitch modulate one VCO while keeping the others slightly detuned. This cant't be used in mpc5k on OS2.
A very light pitch modulation on a single VCO is also good for hollow pad sounds.

ok, I reinstalled OS v.1.02, but the LFO>VCO1 modulation has the same bug. overall the synth engine even felt more sluggish that OS v.2.0! perhaps someone could convince Bret Victor who designed Alesis Ion, Micron and Fusion to fix the bugs?
Much of MPC5k seems to be based on Alesis synth engine.

oh no! don't tell me that this one is a faulty hardware! Akai support is dead as a door nail
I gave up on my Behringer DX3216 digital mixer last year, after several home made repairs.
does this mean I have to go thru the same S.H.I.T. with my mpc5k... :x

You should confirm with some other users about the synth issue.

Well, I've taken these problems to this forum AND Akai support since 2009 several times. I've done the reinstall trick a number of times, and revert to OS v.1.02. No software update/bugfix has been made since february 2009. Akai only answer that my problem has been sent to tech crew, that's their common answer to many member of MPC-forums.
I did open my mpc5k yesterday, but found no loose connections inside.
You are the first to test this, and give me an answer, I'm greatfull for that!
other issues are crackles in some filters settings, and sluggish control response. The machine has a great VA synth, but there are bugs to deal with. I'd be happy with only 10 synth voices, if it's a question CPU resources. I had the wonderfull Alesis Ion with basically the same synth engine, before I bought my mpc5k.

Akai support is like a black hole... it has weight and mass... but it seems like nothing escapes terminal velocity :/

That sucking sound you hear... it's the sound of bug reports being flushed :P
