CompactFlash Drive/Floppy Drive Swapping Issue

So, I tried swapping my CompactFlash reader for the original floppy drive on my 2000XL (had to grab some old beats) and for some reason neither of the drives are being recognized. The floppy drive kept saying "Disk Read Error", even with a brand new disk, won't even allow me to format it; after putting the card reader back in the MPC is saying "Floppy" in the Load screen and its recognizing that the card reader is installed. Anyone have any ideas on why this may be?

It's the o.s.The same thing happened to me.If you use the floppy it has to be the older o.s. and for the mcd it has to be the newer.Don't recall what the numbers are but i'm sure you can find them easily on akai or forat.

That could be it, but I want to say its not because I was running OS 1.2 (the newer OS) with the floppy drive years before I installed the card reader; but this still could be the problem. But the issue now is, I've reinstalled the card reader and it isn't being recognized now.
