Propellerhead Record!!

okay thanks for the opinions guys... I am sure someone will crack it and create a dongle emulator.....

I dont understand why companies screw the people who actually bought the product by filling programs with garbage that only affect those who didn't install the cracked version. Not to mention, it's laughable how half the time it's easier installing the cracked version. Anyways, that's a whole other issue.

sounds good though so far, I think maybe this may bring reason back into the game but maybe it's too late at the same time ... I dont know. None the less most of us will always have a soft spot for reason.

-solidity (reliability): never crashes, (couple very rare weird occasions).
-ease of use (shortcuts, drawing/cutting tools etc, misc features): easier than anything..
-cosmetic (looks, and vibe of the program): very pleasing. you get used to the 3 section view.
-connectivity (setting up the soundcards and control surfaces, linking it with reason and rewiring it to stuff, etc): stupid simple

i make one song a day, takes me about 5 minutes to demo out. havent opened ableton since i got this program. can't say enough good things about it. reason plus record is the only way to go. wouldnt open up reason alone ever again.

There are aspects of Ableton Live I still love and miss, but man is the Reason/Record vibe just so good. Rewiring Record into Live just defeats the purpose of having Record in the first place since you're now going to have to use Live as your DAW. I actually played around on my Mac with opening Record first, then Live and routing the audio output of Live through soundflower to get it into Record (which is how it really should be done), but it was a bit of a hassle and wasn't quite as smooth as I would have liked. Maybe someday we'll see Record able to be a rewire host which would be dope... somehow I think it goes against their philosophy though. Or maybe we'll see bi-direction rewire... a man can dream right?

Personally the dongle doesn't bother me so much either. As long as you have internet access you can authorize without it. Yeah lugging a USB hub around is a pain, but most of us are already lugging around so much USB stuff from keyboards/controllers/audio/etc... that a dongle is easy enough to forget about.

I dunno looks slick. All this software trying to pry me away from my MPC my hardware rack, my digital recorder and Garageband (free!).

First it was Mashine and now Record 2different tools I know but maybe someday if I am forced to downsize, maybe I will jump on the wagon.

I have been on Record for almost 6 months now and I think its very rock solid and reliable though 1.5 has a few bugs that are being worked out as we speak. It looks great easy to use and it sounds great too. Record has replaced my old daw and has put my hardware into retirement. It and Reason 5 are for the most part all I need/want. I pulled out my EPS classic today to make a beat on it and all I wanted to do was stop and get back to Record the whole time.

I think a lot of people are done with Reason right now and people who have been using Reason for years have a DAW that does most of what Record does and see Record as useless. That being said idk if a cracked version will pop up because so many people do not care about Record. Ive been a Reason owner since 2.0 I dont ever plan to sell my license even if I stop using it and Record made Reason better but most see it as just a separate program.

I am a Sonar owner I have only opened Sonar sessions to track out to mix in Record. I havent composed in Sonar in months since I got Record

i plugged my dongle into the back of my desktop and forgot about it. much easier than internet verification which I personally found more annoying than a dongle

lol I still love the EPS its just there are things that Reason does more easily lol

Logic, protools, abelton, or cubase for tracking.

In that order form best to worst of the available in the market. Protools is most common in the studios though.

No vst support sucks. So its a cookie cutter program. All the good stuff tracked on it sounds the same. only so many ways you can use the factory includes.

My maserati plugins, ssl wavs will crap on the record crack fest software any and all day. Get real people.
