Broken memory slot or compact flash slot?

Sounds like compact flash slot problems... but you're saying your memory slot is bad.

If it's the compact flash slot, well you don't need to replace it to get the HD upgrade. If you're RAM (memory) slot is busted and you cannot boot the MPC you have bigger problems.

it is not the ram but the slot where you put the compact flash card in, som of the pins are broken, the ones who goes in the card. but there is no problems starting up the mpc, but i can´t load any sounds. so if a install a HD there will be no problem updating the mpc

I think in order for you to pass data from the MPC to your computer and vice-versa is through the compact-flash reader slot. Not sure if upgrading to a HD would solve the problem but worth it at least since it'll give ample memory.

But if you don't use a computer then go for it. If you need to pass wav files to your PC, then yeah, get the compact flash slot fixed. Then again you might be able to send the files from the internal memory via USB. Can someone confirm this?

nope, you can only mount the CF card or the HD via USB, not the internal mammaries
