Hey guys,

I have a Rode SM6 mic which I am using to record rap vocals. Granted it's not the best mic in the world, but it does the job.

Now, this is the problem. When I monitor the mic through the mixer it sounds very crisp and very clean. When I record it into Logic it sounds very dull.

There are no effects in logic or on the mixer that would be causing this. I am using a Mackie ProFX8 mixer.

Anyone had a similar issue?

i dont know the mixer, but make sure you havent plugged it into an instrument input, as opposed to an xlr input.

that happened to me recently with my digioo2 mixer coz i was using a mic lead with trs on one end.. as soon as i used my brothers xlr mic cable it was a night and day difference in levels.. it did baffle me tho coz i was using a condenser mic and the phantom power still boosted thru the instrument inputs which i would have thought they shouldn't have phantom power in the circuit..

good luck
