Hi whatsup guys, I just wanted introduce myself. I have been making music for 10 years now, mainly house and techno.

I wanted to have a "live" touch next to my dj set without the need of a laptop, so thats why I bought a 2nd hand MPC 1000 BK v2 (I believe).

I must say I am very impressed with the machine but 2 things bother me and I hope you guys can help me out with it.

1st question: I bought this machine from a guy who has practically never used it before, the machine looks almost brand new. However even after tuning all sensitive related parameters up to the max it still seems I have to hit the pads really hard to get a little bit of sound out of it, it is somewhat better with the "full level" function on, but still Im burning my fingers on this baby.

After upgrading it to JJ OS1 it even got worse, again I maxed tuned the sensitivity parameters (seems more value range with JJ OS1) but it is even worse than compared with the AKAI OS.

Do I need to replace the pads or do I have to give the pads some more abuse so that they may loosen up a bit?

2nd question: Saving stuff seems very tricky, I read several posts that you have to go for the function "all memory", or something like that, still it doesn't work for me. I hope someone can give me a small tutorial on the saving aspect.

Thanks a lot for any help and nice to meet you guys! Btw Im from Holland (The Netherlands) Peace!

My pads are very "stiff" too. They're fine on Full Level, but I need to hammer them to get velocity over 50 otherwise.

Did you change the Pad On Level as well as the sensitivity?

yep, the easiest way is to create a new folder for each project, then go into that folder and SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY

what do you mean it doesn't work for you?
you mean you can't find the right save option? or you get an error when you do it?
or when you load the project back it isn't right?
something else?

"it doesn't work for me" usually means "I am doing it wrong" so you'll need to be more specific

the "Beat Making on the MPC1000" tutorial sold by this site has lots of info on the different save options

In the short time I spent with the 1k I came to the conclusion the pads were abysmal for sensitivity. Workable, but not a patch on full size pads.
