How much have u paid for a record.

with all these represses out, do people who sample still pay top dollar for an original/used? I'm not talkin about Strictly Breaks v1, v2, v3, etc. but full LP re-releases...

what are some of ya'lls opinion on this?

maybe 15 bucks on a stevie joint

so far only $8-9 but i would spend more on some rare $hit. thank God for $1 LP's in the thrift shops!

that Curtis Live joint is a hot record... i copped one for a buck, but it damn sure wasnt mint... P.E.A.C.E.(freestyle fellowship) used a vocal sample off that ish, dope song... well, it was probably Fatjack that made the beat but it was a PEACE song...

Yea my bro has the album with that track on it... There's so many samples on that Curtis album man... I've used so many one note snippets and sh*t on like over 35 tracks prolly...

if it's classic and rare don't matter i'll pay any price if i really want it.

i got a JimmyHendrix that i piad two dollars for then i seen it at a record swap for 80$ mine is in mint F23kin cond. had the plastic on it when i bought it, had a friend offer me 100 for it , once i buy it i never get rid of it,

my collection is going to my son when he gets older. then he could do with them what ever he wants most of them are classic and in good to exellent cond.

I have a Numbers 12", but it's a bootleg...not an original.

I know a cat that spent 300.00 Canadian on skull snaps. Mint condition, but **** that,....thats crazy.

I'm sure there are. Go read a book called "Vinyl Junkies" The only Hip-hop reference in there is an small interview with Cut Chemist, but the book gives you a good idea about the vinyl collectors out there who are crazy about vinyl. One guy sent like 4,000 overseas to some guy who had this rare record he had been looking for for years. Well stupid thing was, he sent it all in ca$h. The guy never got his record, and a few years later he found another person selling the same record and dished out another couple of G's.

Pretty cool book though.

So back to the question, I think yes people would rather have the original LP because of bragging rights. You can't brag about having a re-issued record at all...

when i buy vynilz the recordz price iz set on 2 euro..otherwise **** it..
keep diggin in the cheap crates...my cheapest record costed 25 eurocent.
maybey today i go 2 secondhand storez..and scoop some oldskool recordzzz...

yeah, I definately think its cooler to have an original cause your money is going towards something of value, sort of like an investment. OVerall i would say i dont care about originals, im still gonna use it. But part of digging (at least for me) is also having a good record collection. So it depends on your standards on what a "good collection" is......but having an original makes your collection better....plus putting in the hardwork of aquiring an original makes you appreciate your collection more!

i have spent like 20 bills on a record like break beats or hip hop but as far as non hip hop records go ive paid 1 dollar for the highest price...

I think I spent like $50 but, this was like mad years ago I mean I was in my 20's then and now I'm 37 so atleast 15 years ago. I was trying to get every Parliament album ever made and went a bit crazy.

I ended up finding these 2 rare albums they put out when they were just starting out and Goerge Clinton looks like he's about 12 on the album.............Can't remember the name of the damn album but, I know its a live album and they put it out themselves. The other album is the one with the "Come in out of the rain." sample on it.

Both of them I bought from this guy who was like the master of records and originals. I think he was actually selling off some of his personal stash because, after he and I became friends he used to sell me crazy records that were all originals for like a little of nothing.

I'm sure I probably have something in my stash I paid alot more for back in the day but, thats the one I remember due to the fact it took me so long to get it.

Shoot when your 19 and making $40,000 a year living with your parents paying no rent, you do stupid stuff like buy record for $100 a pop instead of banking that money. Now I have a record collection that's worth crazy grands that could have been in the bank LOL.

I'm almost embarassed to say - $18.00 Georgy Porgy by Mc Lyte just for the instrumental for a blend cd I was doing.
