Now when I hear about people having a drum cd with various drums, these drums come from different samples right?

Yeah, you can buy them or put them together yourself. I use Sound Forge 60% of the time to automatically chop up drums and save them as wav. Place them in my 2kxl and I go from there.

I also have some drums sample CD's I've purchased, real drums and electronic drums.

How you do that auto grid thing in sf? I cant get it to cut drums automatically like in recyle. I use auto region and the settings parameter throws me off coz I cant get it to chop zero crossings like in recyle...

I don't understand what you mean by auto grid. I missed that class in school. Auto region works by threshold and other parameters, I have not seen a zero crossing parameter in AutoRegion. Mess with the threshold though and you should be able to get the chop you want. I don't use Recycle so I can't make an opinion on that one there. Most of the time I will use a noise gate first, then use Auto Region to chop up drums. Works perfect for me EVERYTIME and I don't worry abour Zero Crossing cause the noise gate handles that part well, Auto Region picks up from there and gives me what I want.
