Maschine vs MPC 4000

Like the most of the answers on this thread. But there is a reason I'm doing this.

As I have stated in my earlier posts...Maschine doesn't come close to an MPC 4000 or any of the latest MPCs for numerous reasons. My Maschine is collecting dust until NI updates the OS with the features they promised on their website. Features that will give it basic MPC functionality.

The thing I hate about Maschine is velocity to sample layer mapping. Why doesn't it have velocity to filters mapping like mpc or velocity to anything mapping like any decent software synth/sampler?
This only feature makes mpc much more expressive and suitable for live play than Maschine.
And if you add slider mapped to sample start you can make some crazy shit.

The question is why the platform which is mostly software made by software giant has such a slow progress? (that's rhetorical

I do admit I prefer my mpc sequencing mostly. And I acknowledge it is just a preference in workflow for me to chose my mpc style of sequencing to make a groove. If everything I played was totally live with no quantize, swing, shifting, and modulation editing whatever maschine would be alright and for a lot of others it is fine and I respect that.

Just I' m always rediscovering something more on the mpc when I think of expanding beyond my current setup and workflow. Hardware does have immediacy when you can grab a knob and tweak it to get the sound you are looking for.

Couldn't agree more! MPC has the flow. Maschine has too much friction.

But I have to say it is preference and workflow. Each of us are individuals with different styles. All of users like lotez, knocksquared and others work very well with maschine and make fanstatic beats using it so real recognize real. Just that it isn`t going to be the one all for everyone`s workflow. I never sold my mpc after awhile of going back and forth between my maschine unit and my 4k I just stayed with my mpc as I have a pretty good handle of it now and I`m still learning new things.

Yes of course. Flow/friction in different working environments is absolutely subjective thing. Life goes and I learn and choose what fits me best.
That's nice Maschine is good for some people. Shouldn't be a problem to sell it.

Just as I wrote yesterday how my Maschine has a layer of dust on it...NI announced the upcoming OS 1.6 which will allow it to host VST instruments One of my top complaints is that the sampler in Maschine suks. So if Kontakt and Battery can be seamlessly integrated with Maschine....I will mos def dust it off and give it another shot.

Its amazing how you hyped up Maschine....and I've written numerous posts why any of the latest MPCs are superior while you debated with me. Now you are back to using your MPC 4000 which is what you should have been using in the first place.

running battery inside of machine is very tempting to me.

I may have to break out the debit card soon

It doesn't matter at all as it can be the workmanship of the user that matters. Sure the maschine can work faster and easier than the 4k in sample editing and loading kits. But faster doesn't always equal better. Sometimes a bit of time to tweak things slowly works wonders.

I recently came across a quote from rockweiler that was insightful. " You can have a bs keyboard that a great player can get on make beautiful music on. On the other hand you have cats with the top line advanced gear that can't play anything. What matters is the music. One has to find the gear that fits their workflow and abilities."


Maschine isn't for everyone and neither are the mpc for that matter.

MPC sequencing, seq editing and tweaking fits my workflow is my choice. It doesn't mean that the maschine's sample editing, daw integration and sample library are not going to be the match for someone else who move from a mpc or never use one as long as it fits their workflow and the music is good.

You have to try it out to see if it fits you. May your beats bang on.

Just returned the mashine, its too hard to chop a **** snare in that shit, for real, compare to the 3000. lol. if i wanted to do beats for justine bieber i would keep it, but im not, grimey cuz 100. prolly gonna use the $5oo for a desk or two outboard effect rackes.
