FYI, a free 1.5.1 update is now available. The update contains a number of improvements and some fixes.

Heads up. This just in from the NI forums:

"I can finally break the news to you about the biggest feature that will come to Maschine in the next free update - which is plugin hosting!

So, according to popular demand, the upcoming 1.6 version will allow you to use VST and AU plugins as sound sources and effects in your Maschine project. This includes both the whole NI range of instruments and effects as well as any third-party plugin.

Check the screenshot for an idea of how this will look like. Instrument plugins can be used in any sound channel, and effect plugins can be inserted on both the sound and group channels as well as on the master.

Obviously the addition of plugin hosting requires quite a bit of development and testing. Regarding the timing of the release - version 1.6 is about to go into internal beta testing this month, and we are currently planning to make it available to you through a public beta test in January, with the final release probably coming up around two months later. As always, these are projected dates that can still change a bit.

Plugin hosting is the most prominent feature addition in 1.6, but there will be quite some more useful things being added with that update. Look forward to the coming weeks when we will post more details about Maschine 1.6!"

pluggin hosting sounds bad ass! imagine controlling entire fl studio as a pluggin... I wonder how well that would work as a matter of fact. Also that opens many doors... spektral delay, waves, and one awesome addition would be image line's gross beat and fruity slicer.


Pluggin hosting is something that will require a bit of work so I wouldn't be surprised if further updates will be needed later on.

- Although I hope they don't add too much bloat to it - I like Machines fluid and uncluttered way of working - though I suppose I don't have to use Plug ins in it if I don't want to.

Having said that - the ability to use Effectrix in Maschine would be cool

Cool. Shouldn't be too hard for them, if you consider Kore. It will still take time though. I'm more interested to see what the other features are. There's still a few things that need a rinse and better implementation though, to me. Let's see if they improve in those areas since it's been voiced to them already. I was expecting 1.5.x to be the last free update too.

to my knowledge.

If your so happy with it, why dont you sign up to the ni forums and leave us. If i was a mod i would have locked thos thread at the start of your post.

Except you're not a mod, so for the moment your post is moot and it's affects are infinitesimal.

I didn't know there was some rule here that said all posters here couldn't use anything in addition to (in my case), or instead of, a MPC. Actually, I don't think there is one. Maybe you can add that to your wishful thinking list of rules to add when you become a mod.

You're right. This is the 'studio environments' forum, and this kind of post is exactly what should be in this sub forum, so please carry on posting about Maschine, it's very interesting to see what else is out there.

i think this proves that Native Instruments cares about the unfinished mpc4k using aksys tied to the dps24 or the varios/sp606/mv8800 crowd that wanted the Universal Audio fx card from the VS2480.

Now we have the best solution possible. All the people that hated on maschine will bow down now!

Well if you think that, then you dont know the reasons those people hated on the maschine in the first place...


People who "hate on" (pulling the hater card yet again) maschine then aren't going to bow down to anything when these are the types of complaints that were mentioned:

-the people who dont like using computers to make music aren't going to all of a sudden love it... it's like people who like golf aint gonna love hockey just cause both use sticks.

-the people who like using mpcs the best because that is what they have been doing for years (ie people like ayatollah who still rock the same gear for two decades) well some people use what they been using. It's like iggy pop still used the same guitars they had since the 60's-70's ... know what I mean? there is that crowd who dont need new shit to do the same thing. That is probably mostly older crowd maybe? you know those kind of people who dont feel like learning a new thing and are comfortable with what they already know...

-the people who hate the maschine controller. some people complained that the quality is garbage... one guy mentioned that (wont name names) and he is a total nukai fanboy so he isn't even saying that from the oldschool akai (real akai) perspective.. he was able to deal with the quality drops from vintage roger linn models to the newer ones but still disliked the maschine build quality.

-people who think maschine sounds bad, but dont know that often has to do with the quality of your interface and other gear... though some people do know all that and still find it sounds not too great... those people do exist... I think that things like battery now being accessible and other pluggins via the hosting thing will have a second look though cause that is a flexible feature right there...


The only way anyone will bow down to the maschine is if all of a sudden *poof* all the mpcs in the world exploded and there was no other way to make music.

Is maschine becoming a DAW???? It is good. But wouldn`t it be kind of complicated to have maschine as a plugin in Logic and battery as a plugin in maschine and then bounce down the tracks and such. If maschine is changing into a DAW somewhat the sequence editing and arrange page needs some work.
