i thinks it s cool lil box and i m gonna cop for sure one in the future.
i m still using my mpc with my pc as an instrument rack.
so vsti integration is not that important for and it could increase the crashrate(i bet you can also do it with the maschine via midi out)
there are many many options like guru with a pad controller or reason those options also have different types of swing.
and there you go another digi vs analog discussion....
who cares @ the end of the day it only counts what you made with your tools.
if you wanna make kick s punchier use a compressor and a transient designer...

claiming to be the piracy king is not something to be proud of.

I make electronic music and I own both from about one year. I think it all depends from which music genre you're making... maschine seems to be much better for electronic as its automation capabilities and effects range are objectively superior. when I bought maschine I quitted using my mpc5000 and was really happy with it...

but now, after one year, I found myself again on my mpc... sounds glue in a particular way, swing timing is so peculiar. everyhing is really under my hands, build quality and playing feel are much better, searching samples in my library is much quicker (I have about 40 gb samples), the info on the big mpc display are so detailed and clear and each function page on the mpc has his own graphic layout to recognize it immediately (think about the mixer, the amp envelopes, the lfo, the effects: maschine has no graphic layout, just a series of parameters names and numbers). it seems I prefer my mpc over the maschine despite all his lacks of effects and automations, so I also have to agree with the personal taste argument...

The MPCT 5000 is a load of s&*t!

I bought mine around september time.

It broke. No sound.

The replacement has now broken. No sound.

This is after a mere hours worth of use, the second time was when playing with the effects- it couldnt handle them and created a large buzzing sound which wouldnt stop.

Now it won't work.

Cheap toys last longer than this damn expensive useless product.

Why oh why did i invest in one?!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that! I had bad experiences with the KORG TRITON STUDIO, NORD LEAD 3, ACCESS VIRUS RACK, ALESIS ANDROMEDA and the DAVE SMITH POLY EVOLVER. Many people vouch for them. I must agree, they are amazing synths. I just had bad experiences. Some buggy and some hardware. It happens!

It would freeze a lot. Sometimes it'll turns off. I would have to hit the power button twice to turn it back on. It was too much of a pain, I had to return it.

I thought the OS was clunky but thankfully I never had any other problems with it.

i know the gear of today is magic compared to the old four trape tape machine that many of us started on and pretty exciting too but its just major fustration when you spent too many hours at work only to find the short time you have to play with your 'toys' is spoiled by them breaking. haha, id hate to be a kid getting one of these on xmas day....and then crash, 'daaaaaaad'.

Actually id hate to be the dad too!

daveyP, I understand your frustration, but going in every thread about the MPC 5000 and saying THE MPC 5000 (that means all MPC 5000's) is "a load of s&*t" ain't cool.

Your MPC 5000 is wack... mine is cool

Anyway sorry to hear about your problems with your 5K, hope you can resolve them and make use of a really great MPC.
