Eps16 work flow?

Does any one here make beats on entirely eps16+?. If so just wanting to get some tips in workflow. Are you doing your drums on the one instrument or loading the drums into a few instrument tracks?.

I use the EPS classic and this is my basic drum / loop chopping workflow:


1. Press the sample button and select instrument one. Select layer 1 and WS New and let the sample come in. After that truncate what needs to be gone and then set the exact keyboard range.

2. Press the sample button again pick instrument one again. Select layer 1 and do another WS New and let the sample come in. Truncate and set range.

3. You can do it up to 8 different sounds in one Layer. So usually the break I have has eight or less chops. Now if I am layering basses or other drums, i hit sample, select instrument 1 again. Then use layer 2 and WS New.

Check out in the manual the word "multisampling". It alows you tu put more than 1 sound in 1 instrument.

Actually the EPS classic is 13 bit sampler that saves in 13 bit and right justifies the audio (outputs higher) to an output like a 16 bit sampler due to the division of 4 rounding rule. For example 24 , 16, 12, and 8 are all divisible by 4 while 13 will have a remainder of 1 forcing the output to round up to the nearest 4 value. Take this with a grain of salt. It's what I've concluded from what I read on the wiki and other boards.

When I have time, I will post pics up of sprectrum analyses charts and show the difference between sampling on a machine like a 2000xl versus sampling on an EPS classic on various sample rates with the maximum cutoff set to 20.5khz(whatever the highest value is). It would be good to see that at a sample rate in the mid 30s to the maximum sample rate will resemble a 16 bit waveform more and more.
