Hey guys, Im new here so be gentle with me. I having problems with the mpc and miniak. basically ive hook it up together with midi cable (midi in, midi out etc and audio to my mixer). I set my first track on the mp to 'midi' then program 'off' and then '1A'. I record the midi note and the play back is fine and everything is all good. but when i set the second track to 2A and change the patch on the miniak, it changes the first i had on 1A. Ive config it to local off (just midi) and multi channel etc..
I'm using jjos2xl and was thinking of going back to jjos1 or the akai os to see if more basic with the midi setting there. is it something to do with LSB/MSB? I have been through the manual of the mp and the miniak but im not getting it. i have been on youtube and google but still nothing. maybe it because im a retard... i dunno.

please help this retard....

thanks

The MiniAk is not a multi-timbral sound module. You can use one patch at a time and that is all. If you can set up a patch with a split, you might be able to use to on a single MIDI channel, but you it will be ONE MIDI channel. If you want to go deeper than that, try sampling your synth pattern in to the MP before you make the next, or get a synth that is meant to run many channels like a Motif, Triton, Fantom, MicroX, etc.

Best of luck.

Common problem, research the specs of any synths BEFORE you buy not afterwards!

Miniak, like the micron are multitimbral. Limited polyphony in a way (8 voices) but definitely multitimbral. I have the micron and i use it as a multitimbral synth. You must use the miniak in "setup mode" in order to have many parts playing "PART A, PART B, etc).

i read the following useful topic in this board and worked my way to it

btw, if you got soul you'll like the miniak, i do with the micron :)
