Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My boy has a MPC2000 that is super annoying. 8 times out of 10, the samples play back serious distortion. I thought I had fixed the problem when I used the Phono outputs instead of the stereo outputs, but when I tried to sample, the playback sounded really robotic...sounded NOTHING like the record at all. I'm thinking start with the cheapest fix first; the RAM, but I really think the inputs/outputs are messed up. Anyone else ever experienced an issue like this before?

I need more info to determine where the problem is, but I would suspect worn pots. Try replacing the volume pot (you can get it from mpc-stuff.com or VST.) You'll have to desolder the old pot, then solder the new one.

i tried buying cheap slow ns ram once for my emu and everything i sampled sounded like crap static.
cheapest thing is to take all the ram out and see how it sounds
