Excited about getting an MPC

Somebody already bought the the MPC 2500 using "buy it now" for $750. Arghhh now in retrospect it seemed like a really good deal. I'm sure another one will come along though, I'm not going to rush this. But still, I'm excited so it's going to be tough to restrain myself if I see something close to $800 that looks new.

Dr Frank and Debauch: that's exactly the vision I had when I thought about buying this. I already have decent recording gear (P-Solo preamp, Shure microphones). I want to record my riffs and just mix them around all I want. I'm hoping I can really free up my creativity with this machine. We'll see though, you guys make it sound promising.

Thanks for the tips on maxing out the machine. I'm keeping an eye on that but honestly it's second to getting a well-maintained machine. If I can find a really clean system with no upgrades I'll probably go with that first. Of course if I can get everything even better!

Well, I'm headed back to eBay to do some searching...

the ram upgrade is important but that can be bought for 10 bucks if not free... 128 meg sd ram isn't used on computers and hasn't in over a decade.

on the 1000 make sure you got those new pads.. check for it cause people would write that down and if they didn't then always ask. As for the JJOS, you can get that when ever you want.

completely true, but remember it's a 256MB board you need to get the 128MB upgrade - the MPC only uses half the available ram if you don't get the overpriced Akai RAM.

so it's still cheap and you still shouldn't buy the Akai RAM, but remember to get 256MB

yeah true, and you know when 256 sticks became really popular soon computers were on 512 ddr kits so those became cheap real quick... it's pentium 3 memory

Why would someone spend the money to buy an MPC, and yet not be willing to drop another measley 10 dollars to make it get 5-6 times more sampling time? I'm sorry, but that makes no sense at all. It's like buying a Mercedes and then being worried about spending 20 bucks to put gas in it.

If you can't afford the 10 dollar memory stick, you can't definitely can't afford the 750 dollar MPC. Right?
