so i got a mpc 2000xl wit a power cord that's it hahah now all i need is basically a shopping list on what i would need ot get my self started i also am using a macbook pro with logic pro 9 so any help would be awsome i wanna be able to upload samples and make some beats i have so many sounds in my head its time to get em out !!!!!!!!!!! please someone help me

There are tons of tutorial videos on Youtube, and a wealth of info here and on the interwebz.

Start here http://www.mpcsounds.com/download_akai_mpc_manual.php by downloading the manual and reading that and experimenting on your own. You will get a much better feel for the machine by doing this.

Also, the owner of this site has MPC tutorial books that really break down the machine better than the manual does. They cost $40 and are well worth the price. I bought one when I first got my 1000 and it really helped me decipher some of the stuff in the manual that was unclear.

you are going to need studio monitors, cables, a mixer, a USB or firewire sound card (interface), a power bar to plug it all in, and some more cables in case you want to sample stuff... plus RTFM

whats a good stereo system to use ?

.... just wondering, how did you get $3000.00 worth of gear and not know anything other than what you got? When you " bought" the gear, assuming you did, was it hooked up or not? Call the guy you " bought" it from and ask for the monotors and interface...lol good luck with that.

And if you want a more detailed answer. Since audio gear is something very "individual" and especially for something like studio monitors, not everybody has the same taste... educate yourself! Start googling, read gear reviews, read forums (thousands of people have already asked your question, thousands of people have already answered... just google it). Read up and form your own opinion.

Guess who helped me when i had to find out what equipment i needed, what was good, what monitors i should get, etc... FREAKING NOBODY!

If you read my post again, you will realize that i just helped you. If you want everything quick handed to you, go buy the equipment i posted above. You'll have a pretty high standard recording setup with that stuff (for home recording).

The reason why people react this way is because you don't ask for help with things that you struggle to understand, after you tried to get somewhere yourself first (actually reading up on things, instead of just popping into a forum asking for the holy music making bible with answers to everything). It sounds like you don't want to put in any effort and want all the answers handed to you on a silver plate in one single day. And this is something that people around here don't like very much. You know why? Because most people here actually put in work to aquire the knowledge they have.

Again, buy the stuff i told you about in my post above. It'll work great, trust me. The only problem with that is... you'll eventually come back to ask how to connect everything.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, but don't expect people who have jobs, make beats, have a life to manage, limited time on their hands, etc. To happily write you half a book about the basics of music making/home recording and spoon feed everything to you. Or in other words, write a shopping list for you...

Making beats is a lot of work and requires a lot of thought if you're not interested in just making horrible noise. I honestly don't think it's the hobby for you. I'd sell that MPC.

If you really want to "make beats", just download some free software (I'm not telling you how to use Google) and do it until you find another hobby to get into.
