Hi all,

I'm trying to connect my M-Audio KeyRig49 to MPC. The problem is there is only a USB out, so I'm thinking -- is it possible to connect USB out from KeyRig49 to computer (Reason) and connect computer (soundcard out) to midi in on MPC 2500?

Is it possible?
Thanks for any insights,

zork

PS> I would like to play Reason sounds on KeyRig49 and listen/record/sequence them on MPC.

Yes. You can trigger reason with a the 49. I think your going backwards tho. Midi out is not audio its a command. Telling the mpc what to do. You need to audio in to the mpc for that. Why not get an interface, midi out from mpc out from 49 via usb sync and triger reason with the mpc pads? Play keys and synths with the 49. You can use the mpc as the kong controller. make your song. reason is not very friendy to mpc and external vsts. it is also not a true FULL daw, meaning it will not do tracking without an external device. thats why they sell reason record. or for vst intergration reason rewire. reason is hella tight as long as you have tracking software with it. you could export tracks as a wave and put into mpc via usb mount on mpc. but you should sit and write your goals and mission. then draw a blue print of your signal flow. then you will come to realize how to make your goals and mission happen.

The reason I bought MPC was specifically to avoid using Reason drum machines like Redrum and Kong, cause in my humble opinion they sound mad plastic. The MPC quantizer and swing, the warmth of the beat is fantastic... just unbeatable, especially for hip-hop music.

Hmmm, so maybe it would be easier to connect KeyRig49 to MPC via USB-to-Midi and avoid using Reason at all. In Reason I'm basically only using NN-XT sampler anyway, so I guess I can use MPC's internal sampler and play some of the sounds using keys instead of using pads.

Is it possible?
