^^Chinon FB354A works good and fit better to the 900 slot than other floppy drives.
Its the floppydrive that is mostly used for the Amiga 2000 / 4000 series
The drive is also available as FB354 too (without the A) but this version was used in the Amiga 500 so it doesn't have the front cover.

No I never put tape over the whole on the disk I actually have a gap between the top of the disk drive and the metal casing cause the drive is too short. Yeah I believe it is only using 720. Yeah mines got a big green ground speaker connection or something It looks something like one of these connectors but its green. plus the XLR connections makes it much louder which is cool. Im thinking maybe the green connector is a ground of some sort? I dont know if any of you know what it is for I would be interested in hearing it thanks a lot peeps.

Maybe he (the person you bought it from) had some issues with grounding or hum. If you still got his number or email you could ask him. He is probably kind of technicaly talentet and had good reasons for the XLR and ground-connection.

Yes I found those. But the price, please are you kidding me? I know vintage is costly, but that's double price.

right now, those are the only two cards available in the whole world.

ebay is pretty much your only option... i wouldn't pay double the cost either, so you just gotta keep checking ebay...

does any one know if the s2000 motherboard is interchangable with 3000xl?

or perhapa the 2800?

Is anyone out there use the dat back-up / restore feature?

The scsi fuse is blown on my s3200xl and my s3000xl

I will be experimenting with using this feature to save my work, rather than a zip drive or cf drive.
no drive at all, just record another track in your DAW or in your 2-track software.


the only draw back I can think of. is you cannot just load one sound out of a multi, or one sample out of a program.

I will report back later with the results,

Nice idea with the backup in the DAW. The problem with the unloadable single sounds/sample make me think about the possibility of creating a software that is able to create sampler PRGs with all the settings etc. AFAIK the backup is made up of a digital signal followed by the samples in a listenable audio format followed by a digital signal again. So I guess the digital signal contains all the infos about the settings. If someone just had the info whats really going on in this digital signal it wouldn't be much difficult to create a software that create such a digital structure out of the settings you put in (for example: sample 1 = keygroup 1, filter 40, Attack=0, Decay= 99 etc).

Beside that theory: I paid 15 Cent for a SCSI fuse for my MPC2000. I think the one for your sampler will cost the same (I doubt that its some special AKAI thing).
I would do the job on your machines for a beer (if you also pay the flight )
