Hey all,

Im looking at downloading the Pro tools 9 upgrade but before I do does any body know if once purchasing the download will I be able to put it on both my computers or only the 1 that it has downloaded too? or will I need to purchase twice ? if this is the case I prob should wait and get the box.
If I purchase the download will i be sent the box with disks at a later date?

You can install Pro Tools on as many systems as you want, you'll just need to have your iLok inserted on whichever computer you're using it on at the time. One key, one computer running PT9 at a time though. Downloaded version is that, a download version. Boxed version is boxed version. Buying one will not give you the other. If you're buying for the first time, the difference between the download and boxed version is that the latter comes with an pre-authorized iLok key, a loops CD (ugh!) and some getting started manuals...the download version does not. Crossgrades and upgrades of any kind do not come with an iLok.

Yeah I figured all of that. I have Pro Tools 8 already so I have an ILOK key but when I pay and download 9 to my IMAC thats cool, problem is when I want to download for my macbook am I going to need to pay the $ again ? or is the download free and all you need is the Ilok to activate the codes to start it up ?
The loop cd's are of no interest to me as long as I have and can get 9 onto both machines and only pay the once i'm happy.

thanks in advance for the response

You can do what you want with your download, to be honest. You can even burn it to a DVDR DL and install it however many times you want. No need to pay again. You should also be able to download it all that you desire from your downloads area of your Avid account, online. Avid only cares that you have an iLok with a legit license, from what I know.

If you are really concerned about it, just get the boxed version. I personally got the boxed version because I like the idea of having something I can hold, for my money, in most cases.
