MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Hey,

thanks for your reply mate. Yeah i tried that, but it wouldnt stop it. The sound was obviously generated by the combination of eefects i was testing out; there's no limit is there on the levels of each that you can apply is there? Surely not. That said i understand some settings will cause certain feedback style noises that are undesirable and probebly not advisable but for it to break when those sounds occur is rediculous.

Akai say that they dont receive many calls with this error and suggested a factory reset which ive already tried.

So once again, its back to Akai with the unit i suppose.

Man, im turning back to just my acoustic guitar- get more music done that way!

The supplier said they would get the unit replaced.

Please everyone prey for me to get one long lasting 'built like a tank (as Akai say)' MCP 5000 so i can 'sample' (sorry) some music making MPC style.

Apparently what many people say on these forums is bullshit, according to Akai. I ask why anyone would waste their time doing so, rival companys, well im certainly not a rival company but not yet bigging-up Akai and their MPCs.

Here's hoping.

Rival companys like Roland id suspect but i really really dont think thats the case. They just have to say that as a standard thing to protect their reputation.

I'll keep it posted what happens and whether i ever get a machine that works.

I gotta say again though that Korg products seem amazingly well built, no issues what so ever with them.

Come on Akai pull your socks right up and finish the job properly- 90 percent there to having an A-Mazing product but the issues are a major let down

Quality control must be lacking. I dunno, just glad I got a unit that works good. Did you update the os and reinitialize?

i just feel passing up the mpc 4000 to spend $2000 on a 5000 is not a smart move
nut used and for $1100 might be good

im greedy and get excited by new gear- its my first dabble in mpcs. ive used drum machines for a few years now so know the score to some extent but leaping into a machine that can (or supposedly can) do all the things it can is pretty exciting for me and i presumed that the top of the range newest model would be the shit not just shit.

i think i spend more buying gear than finding time learning to master it. by the time you master one bit of gear there's new technolgy out there, that I MUST HAVE!!!!

where does the making music come in then?
By daveyP Sat Nov 27, 2010 12:53 pm
where? when and where ever i can. I have a bag of acoustic songs that have been developing for about ten years now. i jam a few with a mate who plays an electronic drum kit. I started making backing tracks, bass lines etc for those songs on my mpc, didnt get a chance to jam them with my mate though before mpc fooked up again. i make stuff using my street box drum machine and various 'live' instruments too. whatever comes out comes out. i just love music

Here's a couple of links but most other stuff is on my facebook videos

cheers, all early days stuff yet- i play a 'riff' on the keyboard and have to write it down. id have to dig out the papers with the notes i played to replay it haha. im trying to spend time just learning the basic piano chords and scales. Guitar is my no.1 instrument. On a desert island id choose my acoustic guitar, a pen and a pad.

If they had electricity sockets i'd then pic my boss br1600. oh, and to sm58s. Oh, and my drum stool to sit on when playing.

Then id pick a hot naked chick. Actually, i'd pick her first. One with a heart who can sing too. And cook desert island food for us both.

As an extra id take my xbox and hook up to xbox live on desert island broadband and shoot everyone on call of duty and beat all the fifa 11 kids.

Not asking for much really am i?!

No. That's not too much to ask. Its the basic necessities if you ask me. Although I would choose ps3 instead of xbox. And I really don't care about singing long as she got a phatty, a thong, and a case of that pina colada butt oil like off The Ladies Man and some twerk skills we good.
