Loading question about drum programs/banks/pads

Hi All,

I'm having trouble loading up a song to play back properly. I can only get one program to play back at a time, when I want to play back 3 simultaneously. When I originally programmed in my sounds I used drum pads A, B, and C. I also created and saved 3 programs. Unfortunately what I think I did wrong was not assigning the sounds to 3 separate drum banks (I think I only used bank 1.) When I load up .APS I find that I still have all sounds and programs saved, but when I try to play the song I created I can only get one program to play back at a time. Is there any way to remedy this? Is it possible to somehow get all 3 programs to play together at the same time on the song?

Set Program 1 to DRUM 1
Set Program 2 to DRUM 2
Pet Program 3 to DRUM 3

Now set each track in each sequence to whichever DRUM is appropriate.

At this point, I would avoid using the 'pgm' setting in each track from the main screen, though you could do it that way as well. It would require an extra step though in setting up your programs with proper pgm change numbers, then setting ONE track to load that pgm change into the correct DRUM slot.

I'm having a hard time following you because you are using the terms 'pads', 'programs', and 'banks' in ways that don't make sense on a 2kxl... for instance there is no pad A, B, or C, so I have to assume you mean banks?

Try what I suggest or please clarify what you did / intend to do and what is preventing that.

Sorry about the confusing lingo, yeah there are the 4 pad banks, and the drums 1-4 within the program function. Just glad you understood the gist of the problem and could help me out.

The DRUM 'holders' are a great concept but also unique to the MPC, so they are not as immediately understandable.

I guess it's comparable to a synths multi-timbrality, but that's a very loose relation.
