so i have decided (pretty much) what equipment i will be purchasing soon..

i came into abit of compo money so though i would spend on something productive.

I currently just have mpc2500 and a records (have been using mates computers to trak things out onto occasionally)

So im getting a 27inch Imac with quad core i5 (refurbished) http://store.apple.com/uk_edu_5000626/product/FB953B/A?mco=MTU3ODQ4Mjg this will be £1,269 pounds

i think i will go 'logic studio' (i can get a educational discount from work so full logic studio is only £123 rather than £400)

i want to get this M audio firewire soundacard: http://www.dv247.com/computer-hardware/m-audio-profire-610-pro-tools-compatible-firewire-audio-interface--57220 will cost about £275, im thinking the '6 ins' will be useful when tracking out.

I am also getting a midi keyboard.

I am hoping this equip will sit well with me and my current set up..

anythoughts on this, would you change anything? particularly re soundcard?

any advicue appreciated

No mention of monitors, would be worth investing in a good set if you don't have some already. Otherwise everything looks fine there.

Although just double checking iMacs do have a firewire port don't they? I vaguely remember at some point didn't they take the firewire port off the Macbooks and there was a bit of fuss?

Hi,

oh yeah ive already got monitors, forgot 2 say, i have the Alesis M1 Active 620s - there fine for now.

I also have a yamah mixing desk which i run things through.

Yeah i have checked, and the Imac does have 1 x firewire port, hopefully that will be enough.

Cheers for reply scooby

looks good, I think audio interface you chose is good...but there may be others worth looking at in the price range that just tad more reputable such as rme and motu.
