Hello boys are new to the forum! my name is Andrea and I am Italian, so sorry for my English!

I have to buy a 5000 but saw too many posts of software bugs and hardware bugs, are undecided!
I know a percentage of how many of you are in favor and those for mpc 5000, and those who advise me an mpc 2500?

Thank you soon

Hey you're from Italy, why don't you get the 2500SE. That would be the better choice. 5000 seems to still be in beta mode with all its bugs and crash and burns. Can't go wrong with the 2500SE.

I wanted to take the 5000 because it has all of the samples' interior. With 2500 as I have already made samples of drums and synth ex: tr 808 tr 909 DMX .... I do not use only as a sampler, but also songs for him. Where can I find them? Should I install it on internal hard drive?

... get the 5k. Synth, Qlink sliders, hd recording. Dont believe OLD posts about bugs. The 2500 had just as many. Thats why it needs hacked software to run right. There is no "jj" os on the 5k because it dont need it. The 2500 se is nice though.

True the 5000 has a great synth in it to produce your own sounds and you seem to have the 2500 already. There will be bugs, but as you can see there are some members with issues and some without, so consider it a gamble. Just remember to cop it brand new from a well known merchant if you ever feel to return it. But most issues can be resolved like the saving issue, which I think is the most important.

Don't beleive the hype!!??

You sound like the Akai customer support guy who replied to me regarding my constantly failing 5000. Bought it in september and im now sending back to be replaced for the second time. If what you mean by 'hype' is all the posts from people of their problems then why shouldnt people beleive and follow it; are you sure you're not from Akai??
If this machine didnt fail id big it up and advise people on how good it is by the things it can do but what good are all those features if after a few hours it breaks down, not just freezes and needs a re-boot, breaks down, having to be replaced or fixed yet again. I think Akai have a cycle of returned units that are fixed and sent back out, which means we are all just getting back mended machines which eventually (after a whole five minutes!) happens again.

I'd like to warn people about where they are investing their money, and theyre not small pennies either! Its damn disappointing to say the least when the limited time you get to make music is cut shorter still by having to deal with faulty equipment.

One good point id say about Akai is they seem to deal with the problem quick enough but when asked still won't give an estimated life span of the machine or if due to all the problems refunds are offered to thoroughly disappointed customers, like me.

^ Can you quit!!!!! Everytime I come on the site I see a post where you are talking bad about the 5000. Not everyone has had problems with their MPC.

Back to the OP. I am planning on picking up a 5000 with my tax return in Jan. I've been playing with a friends for a while now and it a nice piece of gear. Fingers crossed I don't get a lemon.

haha, sorry, my passion for music has spilled over into my problems with the 5000.

It is nice gear, if it works so hopefully, and probebly you wont get a lemon and you'll get some satisfying beats made on it.

To be honest i thought the forum would be dead and wanted to get at least one response and hopefully some guidence with regards to my problems (with the MPC, i dont mean the itchy rash on my.....oh never mind!). Seems the forum is alive and kicking and yeah theres a fair few telling me the 5000 works like a dream. Thats wicked then in that case when i get my replacement it will hopefully be smooth beating making from here on in and Boil In The Bag Baby can rock once more.

there's a bit of me...when things are going well haha.

PS Am i soon to be voted out of the forum? ohhh, guys, come on. We all have a cry ever now and again.

well lately there has been some new posters in the 5000 section who seem to have gotten lucky with good machines.

that is excellent for sure! so when they work well they work well...

however there is no arguing that akai royally **** up with the 5k. They should have put more thought into the design of the 5k and less into jacking alesis products and reselling them.

while every previous model has had issues, never has it been that bad... okay well the whole 1000 pad recall thing was pretty bad but you know what I mean. maybe they fixed some of the issues in OS2 but that should have been done before launch and I am sure akai would agree.

well im hoping that if the issues are on all machines, rather than the batch im getting then i hope they are working on another software update- then again, is it down to the hardware?

Before buying it i read that Just Blaze (or whatever his name is) review slatering the machine. After reading the software update had resolve those issues i went ahead a bought it. Im just itching to get using the features that it boasts, i really am.

I hate the initial learning of equipment, although at the same time the newness of stuff is exciting, but once you feel you can get whats inside you out and into others peoples ears (and your own) its great. Im just fustrated its not happening sooner through waiting for my good machine (fingers tightly crossed!).

I should re-learn my uke and mandalin chords in the meantime haha. No no, really i should.

The problem is people like you go on rants and not know how to work the equipment.

well I wouldn't jump to that conclusion... the problem he described is something that is not normal... there is no way to say that paying almost 2 grand on a machine should leave users walking on thin ice... tippy toeing around a temper-mental machine. If he didn't know how to work the machine as all new user dont.... then he should not have been able to screw it up that way through using the machine. combinations of features should not mess it up that way.

1. I don't have to jump to any conclusions, he's wrote his experience in every thread. What I don't understand is he tells people not to get one, but says he's waiting on another one? All he's doing is trying to confuse people, if not he's confused himself.

there is no way to say that paying almost 2 grand on a machine should leave users walking on thin ice... tippy toeing around a temper-mental machine.

2. Regardless if he paid one dollar or ten thousand it should work as advertised. Lets put this in context how may MPC 5000 users are there? Most people who's 5000 works don't say a word. The guys even admitted that he cant find another person with the same problem.

If he didn't know how to work the machine as all new user dont.... then he should not have been able to screw it up that way through using the machine. combinations of features should not mess it up that way.

3. That does not make any sense. He doesn't know how to work the machine. Who knows what button combinations he pressed. He could have activated or deactivated ANYTHING.
