Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi, i have just purchased the cord that goes to the digital in/output in back the mpc which can allow me to plug in another audio device such as a laptop or ipod. When i connect the cord to either lap or ipod, the sound bars do not move at all under the "mixer" section. There itunes songs, but there formated as wav files. If i could get some help that would be great.

Thank You.

I think i may have gotten the wrong cables? The ones i have, are the same size as the red/white audios in the back of a tv. I jus put them into the digital in/outputs.... Would these be the wrong cables because the record in plugins are to big for the cord i have.

The cables fit, you got the correct cables.

However, you said "which can allow me to plug in another audio device such as a laptop or ipod".
Who told you that?
That is not at all the purpose of these cables.

Does your laptop or ipod even have the same connector on them?

1) I don't think the iPod or your laptop has digital SPDIF out...what the MPC has.
2) If you do ever get a device with digital SPDIF out, you have to change the record input when sampling in you mpc to Digital. The record gain knob will have no effect.

To sample your ipod, buy a cable that fits the ipod (1/8" stereo) and goes to ANALOG record ins on your mpc (1/4" mono).
