Hey I loaded my Hard drive with samples and they're all different but when I load it on my MPC there are 3-4 duplicates does anyone know why this is? Are these duplicates overwriting what sounds that should be different?

Example is

On computer

kool_ass_loop_1.wav
kool_ass_loop_2.wav
kool_ass_loop_3.wav

ON Mpc

kool_ass_loop_1.wav
kool_ass_loop_1.wav
kool_ass_loop_1.wav

Your file names over 16 characters long. Use a renaming piece of software and that will sort it out.

Yeah that's probably it. But just so you know, you don't have to shorten the names. You just have to put a unique character in the first 16 characters of the names.

for example, thatbanginassloop1.wav and thatbanginassloop2.wav will be recognized as the same file on the mp, but that1banginassloop.wav and that2banginassloop.wav won't.

Say thanks guys it is good now I downloaded Better File Renamer and it gets the job done by adding numbers at the beginning of the samples it's real good

I am making folders with 1000 samples in each, how does that sound? Is there a limit to how many sounds can be in a folder until things don't show up?

My samples play on its own when I highlight it how do I change this? It will take too long to get to a folder with 1000 files if it plays every one automatically its not a smooth scroll with it

That's my preferred method too, as it keeps the description without confusion.

Hey what's the name of the software? I've looked in the past and never found what I was looking for. This would make my life so much better cause I still need to rename a few folders on the drive.

There should be no problem with the amount of samples you want to add to a folder. But scrolling through it on the MPC would take a lot of time. So you can still make as many sub-folders as you need as well.

I'm not sure how your samples will play on their own. What version OS are you running?

It's called Better File Rename I tested a few Renamers and uninstalled all but this one, it's real good

I'm using OS2XL and it started playing on its own auditioning by itself when I scroll through, it's great but the scrolling is delayed so I'm trying to turn it off
