mpc 500 and mpk25 synced

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and I know I may be asking too much, but the thing is I am so excited about all this that I can't wait to go through manuals and stuff. The question is how to make mpc500 and mpk25 work together. I connect them and try syncing but there is no sound. I can't get any sound. Can anyone help? Thanks

you need to give more info for anyone to help you

are you expecting them to suddenly start composing music when you sync them?
(hopefully not!)

syncing them just makes their clocks run at the same tempo

do you understand how midi works?

have you set them to the same midi channel?

do you have samples assigned to the pads?

You cannot synchronise these two devices.

Synchronising is the process of 'locking' sequencers (hard or software) together in terms of their timing.

The MPC500 has an internal sequencer, the MPK doesn't.

Hardware samplers require a significant amount of user input and much manual reading/ experimentation to get right.

If you want instant gratification buy a drum machine.

No, to be honest, I don't understand how midi works. It's all new to me. But yes, I have set them to the same midi channel and assigned the samples to the pads. Maybe I haven't connected them properly, I mean I connected with one cable (is that enough?) - midi out on mpk25 to midi in on mpc500.

On a last note, the answer was already told that you cannot synch those two devices, why are you still trying to connect them. The MPK25 is a controller, which means its useless without a computer and that there are no sounds in it. The manual shows how to connect a MIDI keyboard, but they're refering to a stand-alone synth. The MPC500 cannot pass sounds to the MPK25 via MIDI either because MIDI is just for sending and receiving data and commands.

Google it, wiki it, search it out.

But I don't understandl; there is the mpc500 preset on mpk25, doesn't that mean they can work together?

Is there a way of playing mpc500 sounds on a keyboard?

Refer to my earlier answer.

You can use the MPK keys to trigger notes/ pads on the 500 or on an attached computer.

Read the manual for how to set things up properly.

I was wondering the same thing , but i do use fl studio with my mpk so i understsand the whole controller aspect. I jus want to sync up the mpc to the mpk so i can do note repeats on my mpc aND access my samples.Would i assign the mpc as the slave with the midi chords going from mpc out to mpk in ?or vise versa? what are the global settings for the midi clock(external?) My setup is at my bands house so it would be nice to have this info when i go to band practice next.Thanks for any help.
