Choping on the XL is the best for me. It doesnt come with usb and it doesnt come with shit in it. LOL i have a 16gb cf card reader thats it. I fill it up with drum breaks and staright sample off of vinyl. If i use synth i sample it from my computer into the box.

There is a big difference when you take the same sounds as from your comp and you layer them on your XL or MPC at that.

You can take the same drum break and on the xl it will sound so amazing compared to the computer.

The computer you can do amazing things but hardware and the mpc is for me. I started out on the computer downloading samples etc... i found that my computer with the drums they sounded really hollow and so digital. I got the XL and from there my problems were solved and i was truly happy.

I enjoy diggind for records and taking cross country road trips and even just going to my local second hand dollar store for vinyl.

i gotta xl as well and i couldnt agree more about the sound quality of the mpc as compared to computers. noticed that drum breaks just sound so much thicker and fuller when chopped in the mpc rather then a daw...i cant really explain why, it JUST DOES! i much prefer the mpc over any daw (i do use fl from time to time, i find it really quick to chop and flip samples).

i also agree about the vinyl...props for keepin it one hundred percent HIP HOP. just straight up vinyl samples and drum breaks, thats all u need.

anyway, some good tips in this video, keep doin ya thing mAn!!!

this is the type of video to check if you are learning the XL. very handy too if you are considering maybe picking up an XL too... and also, it's great offering the same break to download so that people can try and do what you are showing.

yup...wen i first got my xl i literally spent one full week only reading and studying the manual. i brought that thing to class with me and read during class.

i didnt even touch the mpc the first week i had it (it was really hard not to). i wanted to know the machine before i started f'n with it. READ YOUR MANUALS PPL!!!

but in all fairness some things just are not explained well in the manual.

yo lol. i spent 3 weeks reading forums and the manual when i bought my xl and i was messing around with it. IT TOOK ME FOREVER BEFORE I LEARNED I COULD USE THE SLIDER TO HIGHLIGHT THE SAMPLES!!! LOLOLOL

And i would never trade my XL for anything im just too attached to it! Theres no options to it, Its so straight forward.

BUT THIS IS TO ANYONE THAT IS NOT EDUCATED. THE XL IS NOT COMPUTER ACCESSIBLE ITS STRICTLY FOR VINYL AND SAMPLE HEADS. and not to take away from software people; you can still achieve the same outcome on software as the XL or mpc at that (it just takes more work

Im pretty sure im confident enough to say that you can not minipulate drums the same on software as you can in any mpc at that (mpc 3000 and mpc 60 is king) (But i love my XL more then the 3000)
