I could get these screens for probably $100 or less brand new, from China (MPC4000 Screens for $72).
Problem is you gotta buy bulk of at least 100 of them to get the price, you just gotta have the capital.

The problem is the capital to order the quantity required to get the price.
I tried to organize a bulk purchase on some other components for the 4K, and the limited number of those willing to go in wasn't enough to get a great price, even though the price was still less than say MPC Stuff and VST were charging, everyone expected me to throw down the loot, buy say 10 or 15 of each item, then sell em off one by one. And at that, no profit. Which is fine, but if I gotta come out of pocket and invest the time, hassle, money, shipping expenses, etc, there should be something.
With everything else I have going on I can't shell out the $4000+ right now.
(For instance, I was able to get MPC4K Screens and Force Sensors for way cheaper than VST or MPC Stuff)

I didn't realize how difficult it is to get a LCD screen... I just got an XL for free because it was taking up space, and I need a new one.

If you can source like a champ, then why are you paying $72 per LCD from China in 60pc quantities?
Anyway, the point was to get some people on board for replacement LCDs at a reasonable cost. I've completely lost interest in helping anyone here, though - I bought a few samples for myself and a few acquaintances and moved on.
You guys are an angry crowd here - and I really want no part of it.

Yeah I get crabby, sorry.
The 2000XL screen thing is pretty dead. The OEM manufacturer wants no part in it.... nobody has the rights to the screen, and it was proprietary... so it makes it pretty tough.
The 4000 screens were used in many other things..... ATM's for example.... so that one is a bit easier.
And by the way..... $72 per screen is way cheap for anyhting less than say 500 piece orders on that screen.
If anyone is serious and wants to invest $4000 + into ordering screens for that I'll pass the contact info along..... but VST doesn't even intend to order more cause the market is so slim, and there's really not 'a lot' of demand..... at least not enough to justify an investment like that into such a slow return.

New MPC2000/2000XL displays are on the way!
I shelved this project for over a year due to the insanely negative response I got in this thread.
It gave me time to reflect on the usefulness of repairing a flawed design, so I decided to go all in and design entirely new displays. The project is moving along smoothly thanks to a generous capital investment offer from a company that had already invested significantly into failed attempts.The displays will be available through a dealer network only - no eBay or direct sales. I'm merely the designer/manufacturer and I do not set pricing. It will be much more affordable than the scarce originals you see from time to time.
More details in the coming weeks. The display manufacturing have a 6 week lead time which puts us in the Feb-March time frame after the programming / physical design is finalized.
So don't throw out your machines! You won't be sorry that you waited.

Thanks - I really appreciate it.
The new LCDs are brand new. Not old stock. Not surplus. Not refurbished.
Exact details are still being hashed out - but I'm going beyond the simple replacement part. You'll be able to select a backlight color and dim the display. Granted, a small switch will have to be installed on/behind the back panel if you want to adjust the color/dimming on the fly, but it's a feature I think most people will really enjoy. It is a drop-in design, requiring no wire cutting or soldering.
The first displays will be positive mode - dark lines on a light background like the original. Like the original display, this replacement will not be an off-the shelf design. It will be made up of a main display module with a control interface board that handles data translation with the MPC.

Oh - it's one dealer that ships worldwide. It's a trusted, well-known MPC replacement parts supplier that also deals with MPC customization. I'm sure you can extrapolate who this is.
I'm being purposely vague - I just don't want to overstep my boundaries until everyone is on board.
