Oh - it's one dealer that ships worldwide. It's a trusted, well-known MPC replacement parts supplier that also deals with MPC customization. I'm sure you can extrapolate who this is.

I'm being purposely vague - I just don't want to overstep my boundaries until everyone is on board.

There will be good money in it for whoever rolls out the screens.

There is another forum member working on these as well so I guess you 2 are now in direct competition... which gives this project better odds.

Hey, that's great - did he work out the manufacturer of the original display's chips? Because so far, no one else has figured that part out. We did.

The design is going into RFQ mode which means companies will bid on the design. A prototype will arrive in 14-21 days, which means by January, we'll have photos of the retrofit.

Hmm, I'm not known for talking big. I guess the proof will be in the results.

i'm glad that i bought a 2000xl with 8 outs and a couple lines for 70 bucks.....i'm restoring that badboy.

They're refurbishing your screen - you have to be without it while they perform the service. Target price on the new screen is less than the VST refurb.

any idea on how they are accomplishing this? what part are they replacing?

Sure - they are repairing the heat seal connector. They could have had new connectors manufactured and purchased a heat sealing iron to perform the repair. Doing this correctly is not a trivial effort. I suspect they aren't doing it correctly, because the equipment to do this is plenty expensive. Maybe they're subletting the jobs to a local LCD repair shop. The description is too brief to really know. I digress.
