Problem with program file - not completely loading?

Lets see if someone can help me out with this one. First off, I was using a 1k for a few years before recently upgrading to a 2500 with the OS2XL and I'm loving it. When I was on the 1k I never really used programs, I just loaded up what ever samples I needed as I went along but now with the 2500 I wanted to build a template that autoloads a few programs with the sounds that I like to use the most (mostly drums and hits) just to speed up my workflow.

Here's the problem...

I've created a project file templete with 8 programs that autoload when I start up my 2500, all of the programs load up just fine when they autoload, all the samples are there. If I manually go into the project folder and load the template project file manually some of the samples do not load. When I hit the pads it displays the sample name assigned to that pad but it looks something like ... ?snare . The files that are missing are no where to be found in the sample list. The weird thing is that if I go into the template folder the samples are there and if I load the programs that are missing samples by themselves and go back into the main screen all the samples are now there. For some reason it seems like if I load that tamplate file any other way besides at start up in autoload certain samples for programs do not load so I have to reload those programs again individually. I've deleted the project file and re-saved it several times after making sure all of the programs work and all the samples are there and when I try to manually load that template again different programs are now missing samples, the programs that are missing samples and the samples missing vary everytime I create a brand new project file eventhough it is exactly the same as the last one I saved and it should be working perfectly. Why does it do this? I've been saving the exact same samples and programs every time. What's the difference between me loading the project file manually and the mpc autoloading it at start up? I know it's not really a problem with the samples because I can load them up just fine by themselves and they load when I first turn my 2500 on or load that program individually. I'm kinda stumped, I just want to be able to save it once where everything works no matter if I autoload it or load it manually.

I know it isn't that big of a deal but if I'm already working on a project and want to start fresh it sucks to have to turn my mpc off and on to get my template to load right or have to reload certain programs individually (it defeats the whole purpose of making a template with all my programs). Could it be because I'm loading too many files at once, I have more than enough memory though? Anyway, any help would be appreciated and I'ma keep working on figuring this out, it's bugging the hell out of me. Thanks

That's what I've been doing when I load the project manually and still most but not all the samples load, that's when I have to go back into the project folder and load those programs individually that are missing samples, when I load them individually all the samples are there. You know what, I just figured it out! I was always in the habit of going into the folder, highlighting the project file and pressing DO IT and I never had any issues with my beats or songs loading the programs (even though I never really used programs that much) or samples up until now. What I did right now was highlight the folder and press DO IT, I didn't go into the folder and load the .PRJ file I loaded the actual folder that everything is in and all the samples are there and everything works great just like I had saved it. That's crazy I never knew it made a difference until today, I always just loaded the .PRJ and had no problems but none of my other projects have anywhere near the amount of samples this one has so it probably has something to do with the high sample count that is being loaded all at once. Hey TYPO I don't know if this is what you meant when you replied back but either way it helped me stumble onto the solution, thanks man!

yeah, this is an old bug. i had this same problem back in os 2. it seems to be totally random, sometimes loading a PRJ file works fine & loads all the samples as it should, and sometimes some things get left behind.

i haven't had this bug in a while, and when i did get this bug it seemed to occur with the same projects every time, meaning it must be some sort of file corruption as you suggested or maybe something to do with the amount of samples.

i would report this to JJ, and if you can reproduce this consistently it would be a good idea to email him the PRJ file so that he could take a look at it.

i don't know. best way to go i think is just SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY into a folder (which will create a PRJ file by default). then later load the PRJ file. PRJ file also stores your input settings, which can be important. i have tons of projects and i can honestly say i've only encountered this bug a couple times. if you try loading it again it usually works the second time. in stubborn cases, if you switch the mpc off & back on it usually will solve the problem.

I figured out this happened to me whenever I named samples with characters not native to jjos (like #, . , !, etc). If your sample names have any characters in the name that isn't alphanumeric or an underscore, try changing it minus the non-native characters.

All my sequences,programs,and samples load just fine (And I use as many samples the polyphony can handle)You need to
save entire memory and label samples,programs,and projects as minimal and precise as you can.

Well at least I'm not the only one who's experienced this problem, I thought I was trippin when it first started happening; I'm gonna send JJ a bug report about it in a minute. From now on when I open up projects I think I'll just load the entire folder instread of going into the folder and loading the .PRJ file, it loads all the same files but loading the folder will ensure I don't have this problem and it save me an extra button push so it's all good. I'm actually not using a hd I'm using a 16gb cf card, it's the same card that I was using when I had my 1k with JJ OS 2XL so I don't think that would be the problem. I stay out by the 17 and Peoria, where you at in PHX?
