Plugging an MPC 2000 xl into a CD ROM drive

Ive started hunting for ways to give my MPC more memory and longer reccording times, but I'm not sure exactly how. I went to Frys yesterday and they were completely dumfounded. So basicly i was wondering if i could get a list of chords and equipment i would need to plug my MPC into a CD ROM drive

You'd need a SCSI CD-ROM drive and a SCSI cable. But, that has nothing to do with sampling time... only storage. Keep in mind that the MPC can not write to CD, only read from it. To expand the sampling time you need to increase the RAM.

You're talking about two different issues.

1. problem: increasing ram/sampling time
2. problem: adding cd-rom support

1. solution: The ram you need is 72-pin EDO/FPM and, to max-out, is sold in 2 16MB pairs for a max of 32mb. You won't likely find that in any stores around town but I carry the ram. Stock is depleting with this ram source due to recycling/recovery. Its only going to go up in price in the coming years.

2. solution: As for CD-ROM support, you need an old scsi cd-rom and a DB-25 scsi cable.

I carry both of these. CD-ROM stock is low so its not even on my site. PM me if you need further info or check my MPC products in the case that I have enough stock to put it up on there.

No. DB-25 is used in the MPC2000 classic. MPC200XL need a SCSI II (DB-50) connection.

I think most of the CD Rom drives have Centronics 50 (SCSI I) connection so you need a DB-50 (SCSI II) male to Centronics 50 (SCSI I) male cable
