removalable media for s950

i know this is a bit off topic, but i searched for scsi board ib 109 for the s950, and no such luck, i was wondering if i could install flash or or some other kind of card reader in place of the floppy, so far i have of using those card readers but they be like scsi, and the ide ones have to additional voltage.
could i work around it, and rig up something.

Best bet is to cop another S950 with the scsi and keep the best one and swap the scsi board if necessary, then sell the scsiless one and get your cash back. They are cheap enough to pull that off.

ib-109 SCSI board for the s950 is extremely rare to find...

the ib-105 atari hd interface is much more common yet still pretty rare...

ive had my ebay account watch out for me for any ib-109s for like 6-8 months now and i havent had one pop up at all... ive also talked to the guy at Soundlogic who knows a great deal about these things and he hasnt seen one either... good luck, and if you do find one id love to hear about it...

ive yet to ask Forat and VST about it though, imma have to get on the ball and check it out... i doubt theyd have one but you never know...

hmmm....

maybe im mistaken, but i thought that once upon a time i had some kind of item alert going on, but now that i try to go find it i cannot locate it anywhere... either its there and i cant find it, im completely mistaken, or they changed ebay and dont have it anymore... i know for certain that you used to be able to search for items by area, thats how i bought my MPC60... when its an expensive item im looking for i usually try and find a seller locally so i can pick it up in person, and if they are local and they aint down for that then screw it, i dont need to buy an item from someone that is local that isnt down to meet me... but anyways, i know that you used to be able to search for items by location, but now i cant do that anymore... maybe they moved it, but it seems to me that they dont want you to search for items by location anymore... maybe the "item alert or notification" has been taken away from us also... im not sure... sorry, i cant find it for you...

hehe, maybe thats why one never "popped up"...

but i do vaguely remember getting emails about sp1200s being for sale a long time ago when i was searching for a deal on those(ive since given up the SP search, not completely, but its too overpriced for me and i got other equipment to learn now anyways)

if you find any info on "item alert" or searching for items by location, id love to hear about it... but seriously i think that these are two ebay features that over time have been taken away from us buyers...

Best of luck, you had a hard enough time finding either HD kit when they were selling the S-950 units new.
Best way to find one is to shop Japan for some S-950's, they will run on 100v instead of 120v but you can pull the card, use a $50 step-down unit or swap power supplies.

Is there any solid info on the s950 using removable media? I was under the impression from info that it could only read from CD's using the SCSI and it was a more proprietary type joint. I passed on a couple s950's with SCSI because of that fact. School me on the deal.....and where I can get some valid info on the subject. My research a while back gave some different findings from what you cats are alluding to.

i just won an auction on an s950 with the ib109 scsi board and an external hd... it was a lil steep, but the thing had fully expanded memory and scsi is crazy rare so i had to jump on it... ill probably sell my other one to make up for most of the price... its from a christian music studio too, so it should be in pretty good condition...

My S950 is SCSI equipped. I'm contemplating whether or not I should keep it or swap it for an EMAX rack. I'll be sure to post up if I decide to sell it. Peace.

keep the 950 and add an emax if you must. A lot of the cool shit on the emax requires memory to be mostly empty (spectrum, transform, re pitching samples, etc.) and it's a bit limited in that regard.

! Not enough Memory!!!

Sound Familiar? Seriously, with 10 seconds left in memory (28kHz) I couldn't do the simple operations that I thought the emax was so cool for. I still dig it, but to really freq stuff you have to limit the samples in the memory, just to load sounds and use the filters is no problem, but the cooler shit on board (retuning sample, changing the sample rate) it is really picky because iot uses the sample ram for processing as well.

Some what of a bummer, that's why I'd advise to keep the 950 and add the emax.
