My guess, or observation, is that most of them suck or just don't value their projects. If they did value their projects they would be confident they'd get the $ back on return. So spending some $ on their album/mixtape wouldn't matter as much.

Maybe your joints are not all that,, I'm just sayin

Nah it's just how the industry is right now. Most rappers out right now work at gas stations.

Beat making is de-valued because the market is flooded with beat makers these days. Everyone and they're cousins are producing now. Granted, It's not like the market is flooded with high quality beat makers.
Over all when it comes to music in general, no one want's to pay for anything. Rappers don't want to spend money for beats because no one really buys music anymore. Everyone wants tunes for free.

rappers would rather buy an mpc, decks, synths and a bass guitar than pay any sputnik producer and give him rights and credits on his albulm...

just kidding, if you got the fire then i want to pay for it.

paid £20 for a beat once, would pay more if i felt it was worth it. when i get big bucks producers may do also. we're not all cheap.

I had an emcee ask me for some beats...I gave him my prices. He then asked

"Is this what you do for a living? Cause I'm not about to pay if it's just a hobby...I mean, if it's what puts food on your table...theeeeeeeeen"

:?

Riiiiiiiiiiight....Needless to say, we didn't do any work together

i think some people mistake the word 'rap' for 'get-very-rich-whilst-not-paying-bills-nor-gaining-skills'.

and we all know, you gotta have the skills to pay the bills ;)

Well, in no way am I saying that my music pays my bills...shit, I have two other legit jobs, but for this dipshit to think that makes a difference in whether he had to pay or not was ridiculous :?

You gotta remember too,
allot of these rappers fashion themselves as miniature macks, but they don't know the difference between having game and running game.

lol, not you man the rapper. some rappers treat this **** like kids treat theatre class at school, almost like a get out of jail free card with no love for the game or what they do.

i agree that for him to calculate whether he should pay you from why you made the beat is simply rEtArDeD
