You get NO LATENCY with this huh? I may have to invest in one and ditch all the rest of my gear. I also heard there is a plug-in that lets you go back to the Golden Era to capture the true sound.

Yup! My shit stays connected. Of course there is the occasional hacker, but...

if a person is not visiting funny websites on pc, or tries to download and install bootleg software shit is gonna run good with no problems...but windows operating system does have deteriorating issue so shit needs to be wiped clean every now and then especially vista and 7 not so much xp

I cant cosign that, I have a computer that gets constant downloads including bootleg software and has been connected to the internet for 3 years straight (been shut down maybe a dozen times) and it runs nice.

problems only came up when I had only 150 megs free on the hard drive however now that I emptied it... I am running nice on that machine.

I also want to point out that I dont play around installing just anything, I make sure to investigate beforehand and what not.

windows deterioration is the fault of the user...

I don't download shit on my stu computer unless it's updates for my studio software or my iLok authorizations for my plugins. I just use it to check email and youtube and shit. I use my family computer for downloading any questionable shit!

I think the real advantage is when you are not connected you dont require extra resource using apps like firewalls, registry firewalls, scanners and what ever else you may be running. That will increase performance for sure.

Exactly! But nowadays, computers are so powerful, that shit doesn't matter. It's the the 3000 mile oil change thing. That shit doesn't apply to cars today. Yet, auto chains still pump that shit like it's Bible. You can go 7500-10,000 miles on non synthetic oil under normal driving conditions and be straight. Same thing with these computers. There is so much extra ram and multiple processors that a lot of those old tweaks don't really make much impact on performance. I leave my ethernet card enabled, got all nice fancy graphics and window shadowing, run other applications, and my DAW still performs effortlessly. Of course when I'm running REALLY huge plugin heavy sessions, I like to give a fresh reboot and chill out with other applications. But as long as you keeps your drives organized and uncluttered, and stay away from malicious downloads, your good!

I mean it isn't like we dont know malware exists.. or that viruses can harm your computer. we know they are out there and we know how they are spread and how to avoid getting them. It's like aid, dont **** random whoors with out a rubber... it's that simple.

have you tried lowering the buffer?
when i'm tracking vocals or beats that's what i do so it can be "basically" instant. then when mixing i raise the buffer.
