I'm not trying to front like I know what is or isn't possible. What I'm trying to say is, if you want waveform editing and slice and blah blah blah, get a newer mpc.

im using the 3.11 and im doing great with it. but the thread was about future release of the os right? im just saying what i think would be a good feature for the update. why even update the os at all then if your like "get a newer mpc"? dont get it

Damn I wonder what Mr. Rohan is up to....... :)

This, plus being able to put a simple loop point on a sample, and I'm good...

just wonder how you guys get around absence of Loop mode or loop points for sample playback
or pad trigger mode,
any tricks?

If you want waveform editing, use your computer and then import the samples into the 3000. Simple as that. I would like the ability to use more than 1 program at a time, and this MIGHT actually be possible. I have Vailixi 3.50 and its AMAZING!!! Rohan is the man!! Support the man, buy Vailixi!!! Its WELL worth it!!

sequoia1232 wrote:If you want waveform editing, get a newer MPC, never gonna happen on the 3000. There is a lot of programming work that takes priority. All kinds of amazing music is/was created on this machine without it, you don't need it. I have a sp1200/60/3000le/ASR and a 1000/2500. For all of the modern conveniences of the new ones, I still almost always use the older stuff.

All good, but if what you wrote would be universally true, why bother updating the MPC3K OS at all then? Kind of a bad idea, isn't it?

Editing by numbers is not a problem, use your ears.

Again, making beats with an un-updated OS wouldn't be a problem either. So why bother updating anything? One starts to suspect that the one and only reason you don't wanna see any kind of improved waveform editing is because you won't need it..

I certainly would if I could. Problem is, I use a fully upgraded MPC60 MK1 and I'll stick with it. And if Rohan is thinking about doing something similair for this machine I'd certainly support him by buying it. Haven't heard much of that plan if it exists though..

well cant we already do that while listening to the vinyl?
By klassik.one Mon Dec 13, 2010 6:18 pm
yah you can but if you have random drum hits sampled it would be a huge time saver to be able to just preview those drum sounds instead of digging to find them on the record. but for now previews those sounds on the record is the A+ work flow for now

And if "we" can already listen to music on vinyl, why bother making any yourself?

Sorry, those kind of remarks are getting tiresome. If you're the kind of guy whose creativity really gets going by listening to 20 different one-shot hihats on 20 different records for hours when deciding on what might sound good with what you already have done, then good for you. But there are other tastes around as well. Some stuff I personally like to just pile up in masses and have ready - like closed hihats and snares. As it is now I always load up something like 20-30 hihat samples from a jaz disc totally random and keep only the one/ones I feel I might wanna use. Preview would be just awesome and would enable me to spend more time on the creative process instead.

I'm also perfectly aware of the fact that it might not be technically possible (or realistic) to implement it.

well why bother even getting an mpc that doesn't have previewing when that is the only way producing tracks is easy enough for you? that type of BS comment goes both ways...

and never have I listened to 20 different records to find 20 different one shot hihats... breaks typically include the entire drum kit..... which gets turned into a program. Cutting the sample happens by stumbling upon it while, yes.... LISTENING TO MUSIC ON VINYL.

I use the feature often when I didn't sample and name the sound myself, for example when I downloaded piles of MV patches that I dont know what they are.... but previewing does actually load the sample into ram anyways and then you have a button to keep the patch or you can cancel which takes it out of ram.

Preview would be useful! Definitely agree.

And, as a long shot, I'd like to be able to sample during sequence playback (unless that can already be done!)

Now, where have I written that the lack of preview is stopping me from using the MPC in any way? Try find that and then you might actually have some kind of point.

that type of BS comment goes both ways...

Yeah, let's just keep on adding to the BS of this forum together. Or, alternatively, perhaps you could try to realise that there are other tastes and ways of producing beats apart from yours?

Perfectly understandable, but of course utterly irrelevant to what I'm doing.

Cutting the sample happens by stumbling upon it while, yes.... LISTENING TO MUSIC ON VINYL.

Yes, of course, Vinyl. And 640kb's should be enough for everybody. Quite ironical that you are actually considering upgrading anything, let alone use a device as sofisticated as a sampler 8)

Dude, listening to the vinyl for a sample is sort of like previewing the sample... why you cant see the connection I dont know. Is that only MY taste and MY way of producing beats? Absolutely not. Almost everybody here (except for you apparently) likes sampling from records...

Sorry, those kind of remarks are getting tiresome.

If posts made by two forum members other then yourself, in a forum you dont own is so tiresome... then what are you doing here? I wasn't even talking to you so **** off.

so why dont you take your own advice here
alternatively, perhaps you could try to realise that there are other tastes and ways of producing beats apart from yours?

and there are others besides yours (ie: using the downloaded fruity loops drum packs in fruity loops that has preview instead of transfering them and wishing you could preview them on the mpc)
