OverDub with Midi Controller and Module

whats happnin fellas? aright on one track i have played some keys with my midi controller using a jv2080. alright so far so good. then i try to lay down a bass line on a diffrent track. so i go to new track, spin the knob on my module to change the sound BUT my keys tracks changes with it........what do ya'll do to get around this?

You could always sample the module...
You could still use the keys to play the sounds off the MP...

hmmm i thought midi was only information....i was under the impression that this isnt sound thus not allowing a "sample" but only a recording of what i play into the mpc??? guess that would be cool tho to sample that way i can chop it and get all nasty wit it

Oh that's true man Midi is not audio, but your module has audio outs as well as a midi out...
You won't sample thru the midi cable, you will sample thru the audio cable(s).
You can even sample the module at different intervals, like a "C" from each octave, and then make a program on the MPC, and tune the samples to fill in all the notes you didn't sample... Now you can use that Midi keyboard to play the same sounds from the MPC that you were triggering from the module before!
That way you can go ahead and use the module for a different sound on a different track!

There might be a midi way to do it as well, but I don't know your module.

For example, I have my ASR10 slaved to my MPC. The ASR 10 has 8 "instruments", and I assign each one to transmit on its own midi channel... so on track 1 on the MPC sequencer, I could be playing back sounds from instrument 1 on the ASR, and on track 2 I'm playing back instrument 2 on the ASR etc...
But I have no idea if your jv2080 can transmit different sounds on different midi channels...
I'm new to this too man, just tryin to share the little things I figured out so far...

your jv2080 is 16 part multitimbral. You can play 16 different patches using the mpc. you need to set up a midichannel for each patch. Read your modules manual on how to do this.
On the mpc, just select a miditrack 1A. record your first instrument, and on track two select mid 2A for your next instrument (and so on till 16A). This is all on the main screen.

ok i was doing something along the lines of this but it wasnt workin...ill mess with it some more. good look everyone

I'm bringin this back hopin some new JV users will see this.....i still cant get it.
