Faster response time

I just bought an akai mpd24

i got it up in cubase 4 le but the response time is terrible.

what do i need to do to get the fastest response time possible, and will bluebox be compatable with a mpd24? i tried to play a sound i dragged-and-dropped onto a pad with the mpd but there wasn't any response

Up and running in cubase le with the interface on 'highest latency' and getting real good response time. thank god!

i just had to set it as a midi controller w/ a midi cable and all is well.
