I wouldn't get that MBox 2 get something that has top notch convertors like the Emu 1616 are very pristine here are the specs.

Now what got me on this little baby is this:
"•24-bit/192kHz ADAT In/Out (switchable to S/PDIF)

•24-bit/192kHz coaxial S/PDIF Out (switchable to AES/EBU)"

My boy had one and the chips in that baby is sweet it's better bang for your buck and it works with windows if that's what you're working on. Not mac.

It should cost about $449.99 or you might find it for less on ebay look around.

He's going to be dishing out a lot of loot because PT 9 is not cheap. I didn't know Black Lion modified Motu's, I thought they just did the 002/R 003/R. That's cool

I just put that not thinking that not all people have money to burn.. sorry o.p.
Look at the presonis saphire 40. Its a great interface. I would stay away from pt unless you can do it without hurting the bank to bad. The difference in pt and logic is really so hard to compare. For pure audio... pt wins. For creation and audio most would call it a close tie. If you have protools and its not 9 you can use m-powerd or mackie devices. The mackie requires an upgrade and m-audio software. Once you have a m-audio device protools will unlock and you can run anything through it with correct signal flow. So.. lotts of money on a good m-audio device.. or save up and get bundled software that has interface. Your needs and wants should be thought about before spending money.. more is not always better.. in this case it is.. but workflow will determin what you need and want. Good luck.
