Dubstep used to be good about 3 or 4 years ago, but they've pasturised it, homogonised it and then added lots of nutrasweet to it for the kids. It pretty much painting by numbers these days. wub wub wub wub wub - yeh alright put it on the pile with the rest.

I like Burial's couple of albums & Kode9's Magnetic city.

Dubstep now is like McFly or Blink182 calling themselves punk.

I didn't like it at all until I was on molly at the junction. Since then, I can dig it.

I'm just waiting for jungle to come back.

I have a few tracks combining stuff from both styles... it actually works. The thing that I like about dubstep is it got me thinking of things from a different angle.

All cutting-edge styles get watered down and infiltrated by the mainstream unfortunately. I cringe every time I hear the typical half-tempo dubstep breakdown in other forms of dance music these days. It's in every **** tune!

i don't like it. i don't mind some of the chip-tune style stuff ( e.g quarta330). I love dub, but have no idea where the 'dub' is in dubstep.

i find the drums utterly dull (sounds and arrangements), the breakdowns cliched. i just don't like the synth sounds. Of course i'm generalising, and there are examples of great 'dubstep' music (more like leftfield 'electronica' really) and very talented producers within the genre

for me it a confused genre, that has been hijacked by posh school morons.

good underground music comes from the working classes and is made for the working classes. I like grime, bassline and niche, but dubstep don't do it for me.

Britney Spears latest tune is produced by the Bellamy Brothers and has dubstep overtones.....

like big beat, break beat, handbag house it will influence dance music as a whole, but it will die because of its inability to innovate any longer.

It is naive to say it is future, and, unfortunately for OP i think it is in it's death knell.

Listen to some of the earlier tunes, people like Mala, even N-Type to a point... the tunes were stripped back, a clear dub influence. Very raw sounding, and so so sub heavy. The way it should be.

As for music being made/for the working classes... not sure I'm feeling that. Has nothing to do with class at all, good music transcends barriers like that. There's plenty of good tunes coming from all sorts of people from all backgrounds that's the fun of it all.

But agreed to the rest of what you said... it's dead on it's knees now. Once it hits that mainstream of having big artists who create a "dubstep remix" of every tune going its well and truly past it's best. Having said that jungle and dnb both went through that transitionary period yet survived it... to a point, jungle less so.
