Hi all, I'm new to this forum and a brand new MPC user.

My studio just picked up a used and in good condition 2500. Awesome, we love it.

THE ISSUE:

The MPC randomly resets while being used. This happens consistently after chopping drum sounds and building a program.

The issue happened the first night we got the machine to our studio with the original Akai operating system - 1.24 and standard 16 mb ram. I was chopping some samples from a recorded drum loop and building a program when the MPC suddenly reset it self to factory sounds. OK, weird, maybe I maxed out the internal memory?

So, I bought some used MPC 128 Ram and installed it. The machine recognizes the RAM on start up. The same thing happened while building a program this day as well... it randomly resets to factory and wipes all current ram samples.

Now, as of Saturday I upgraded to the JJ OS 3.10 (awesome by the way, worth it alone for the improved sampling editing) The MPC randomly reset as I was building a program out of some drum loops I imported from my computer to the 256 mb SD card that came with it. This time was really frustrating as I had cut around 20 drum hits and hat about half of a program that I wanted to save and LOST the whole thing. I am now really dumbfounded and concerned, since this issue is making it nearly impossible to work on the machine, w/o saving after every action.

Anyone have any clue what is going on here? Is there an issue with the MPC itself, or maybe the SD card is corrupt? Should I wipe the SD card and the machine? By a new SD card? Also, is there anyway to have the MPC start up blank instead of with the factory sounds when you turn it on??

Thanks for all your help, I'm not a new gear head, I have a machinedrum and synths now and i had an EMU6400 and a SP808 in the past, just new to the MPC world.

Thanks so much for any help!!!!!
