As a 500 owner this is inspiring and more people should post on this thread
there is the other 500 beats thread but it does not focus on clips like this
I vote for leaving this thread a more tuned to this sorta use of the 500

not all of the above are real time performances but worth checking out !

Maybe you should have called the thread "finger drumming videos" or something like that? "MPC showcase videos" sound like videos that showcase the MPC. I dunno. Lots of finger drumming on YouTube. I think most of it is exaggerated movements, almost like they're doing some sort of gangsta MPC dance routine. Some of those guys crack me up.

Personally, I don't really try to add visual flair to my pad smashing. I'm more into the tighter sound achieved by better economy of motion.

I think it was silly to rename this
considering if you listen hard to producers like Damu and J Dilla
its obvious they are not using song mode and just playing a performance
into a DAW to catch a live on the fly one of a kind thing
that only a "finger drumming" performance can create

Why sub categorize making music?

Also I think these videos showcase what a 500 can do more
than the videos of people talking for hours and showing
the long boring process to watch
that is getting your tools ready to have a usable kit

Much like people who post videos of themself
playing a video game
unless its a screen shot of the game its like
watching them play it and for the view its like
wow
looks like fun but this is boring as hell to watch

Where as watching someone make music in real time
is always exciting and inspiring

Relax, the thread title was just misleading by definition. The change has nothing to do with mine or anyone else's opinion on finger-drumming.

And as far as "always inspiring and exciting" goes, that's your opinion of course. I just see a lot of exaggerated (wasted) movement by guys who should probably be taking hip hop dance classes instead of trying to merge it with music production. Some might find that combination intriguing, or even " exciting and inspiring", but I just think some of those videos are pretty silly. Like, if people know I make beats, I don't want them to see those videos thinking that THAT is what I do. But... to each his own.

All I am sayin
is in my Humble opinion
its a better viewing experience to watch someone chop a little bit
but then make music with what they chopped
Rather than watch someone make a beat for hours part by part
because usually each part is not the most exciting thing to sit and listen to
but watching an edited down version of the set up process
and then a dope performance of the beat that is spontaneous and alive
is dope. It's the best of both worlds much like the appreciated sentiment
that the very thoughtful dude who retitled this post

I am just happy the 500 is getting more respect these days

However I co sign the hip hop dance classes
the head nods are sometimes unwarranted in both videos finger drumming and
exaggerated tutorial. Sometimes dudes are head bobbin to the metronome click
