break records

do companies still make break records? if not are they pretty easy to find?

a while back I had one, it had some 2 min beats and then the flip side was just a huge row of different drum sounds, kind of hard to go through. I wish I still had it though. It would be useful.

I have this collection of mp3's and wav's of just about every break in history, but the quality is so so and it takes a lot of the fun out of it. You're not discovering anything and, chopping files on the computer is eh... they came in handy when i was starting out... but that is not the way. btw if anyone is interested in those files i can send them, if you feel it would help, or as a reference for finding breaks in old records. the file names are kind of cryptic though, but keywords..

i need to go to a good record store and check it out

the sound quality on the UBB series is pretty poor, and some of the breaks aren't at the right speed

Dusty Fingers and School Yard Breaks are pretty good collections. You can even find all of them in FLAC format somewhere on the internet. I know I did.. They sound pretty good. I chopped all the breaks up on there and made myself a pretty hot drum library...

Also Ubiquity Records makes some hot breakbeat records. Off the top of my head, Ape Breaks is one good collection that they put out.. You should definitely check those out too...

And I own all the Paul Nice Drum Library records and they are pretty hot... The sound quality definitely isnt as good as the original records they came off of but they still sound pretty decent...

Also jbeed20 from this forum just posted some really hot breaks on his site TheSample.net - he just posted them all up and they sound really good. Definitely go there and download those 2 break packs... He said he's posting more up soon too!! You can chop those breaks and make yourself a pretty nice library of one shots...

Really now? I'll have to see this. I normally don't buy break records, but the drums on ubiquity records tend to be nice anyway.
