Most all keyboard controllers nowadays are gonna have USB. If you wanna hook it up to both your MPC and Ableton, you'll need MIDI. Connect the MIDI out of the keyboard to the MIDI in of the MPC, and the MIDI out of the MPC to the MIDI in of the interface/computer. That's the most flexible way to do it, because you can use both sequencers in conjunction, or either sequencer standalone without having to reconfigure your cabling.

Alternately some keyboards can act as a MIDI interface for the computer, so if your audio interface doesn't have MIDI connections, that may come in handy. In that case you would connect the USB of the keyboard into the computer, and connect the MIDI ins and out of the keyboard into the MIDI ins and outs of the MPC.

And last, you need to think about what sort of knobs and sliders (if any) that you want the controller to have. These will be helpful in controlling various parameters on screen without having to mouse around. Going down that road, you may want to choose a keyboard that is pre-configured to control Ableton's parameters. You can find a list of them under the Lessons panel in Live.

Then you got build quality. If you're not much of a player, then this becomes less important, but if you are, a spongy keyboard feel will ruin the product for you.

If you just wanna 'KISS' (keep it simple, stupid) then hop on craigslist and buy a $25 casio.

I have never used one. Based on specs it looks good. But you should certainly do your own homework.

The ones I mentioned above. That M-Audio will do the job I'm sure, I'm just saying that I don't know nothing about it besides the specs that they have on the net. So I can't really give you any thoughts on it...
