any tips on basslines

Hey. You guys got any tips for basslines on beats?

get a bass note. there are usually a lot of open bass on jazz records. chop out one note (preferably the longest one) set filter to 20 and resonation to 10 then hit 16 levels for pitch. find the root note of your beat and make a bassline.

for beginners you should try duplicating your program and adding a low pass filter to create a bass effect.. it can really give your beat some bottom until you figure out how to properly play bass notes and match them to your sample..

take a single cycle of a sine wave (or a single cycle from a sample you have). loop it, turn 'note on' on, adjust sustain to liking. pitch down if necessary. turn 16 levels on.

I've always had trouble looping single cycle wavs on my 1k. I always get clicks no matter what. Does it work for you?

If you have OS2XL, have you tried cross fade looping? Also, adjusting the zero crossing point at the start and end of the sample helps too.

i dont loop my basslines. i use note on, and play it out fully using note on. that way you just adjust the start points and not worry about the "click" at the end or whenever its suppose to loop. then once i have it down, i'll just copy and paste it for the next verse/chorus.

if you do loop your single wavs, just make sure your zero crossings are setup and maybe do just a very small fade in and fade out to get rid of the clicks. that way you'll get your loop without any clicks no matter if your crossings were setup or not

Oops, yeah, sorry, reading is fundamental Cross fade looping won't even work on something that small. Go back to your waffles and pancakes folks, nothing to see here.

when it comes to the bassline i usually post up fake left and crush em with a hook shot
