MPC 1000 insufficient memory help

I've just purchased an MPC 1000. I've been using an MPD24 for the last few months but thought it was about time i stepped my game up.

I'm trying to import a 10 second sample into the MPC. It loads fine but when i try to chop it i get an insufficient memory message. I've tried saving the file in different formats to reduce the memory but I can't solve the problem.

I'm sure its just me being stupid but i'm still not 100% with this thing.

OK, if you search you will find plenty about memory expansion. You will need it. But even without it you can still load a 10 second sample and chop it, you need to search about below...

. you can only save in one format!!! 16bit 44.1Khz .wav

ok so to free up memory, you have to create a very minimal Autoload file. Search about this to. Then restart, the small Autoload you made will take hardly any memory, freeing it up to load and chop your sample. then load and chop
